As I was saying, we took the dogs through the park down to the river. Running parallel to a stretch of the river is the Kennet and Avon Canal (which also goes through part of the town).
Seeing the canal boats gave me a small twinge of regret that I haven't managed to get out on our canal boat this year. The Best Beloved is more fortunate (!) because he flies out on Tuesday to go and do some DIY jobs on the boat whilst it is at it winter moorings.
This is me being guarded from the rear by Treacle with her bone at the ready to ward off attackers. As always, Phoebe was off jumping in and out of the river.
Happy Sunday

You live in such a lovely part of the world : )
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Carla although I suspect like a lot of people I either take it for granted or don't notice what's right under my nose. However, I do take notice of one of the best views ever that I see when I drive over the top of Box Hill and look down the valley towards Bath and across the valley to Colerne. It really is one of the best views ever especially at this time of year when the sun is low, the light can be spectacular. I am very lucky. Philippa xx
DeleteHi again Philippa. Just a quick note about your comments. Thank you! If you click on my name above, it goes to my blogger account page. When you leave a comment, and someone clicks on your name, it goes there as well, but you haven't included an email address on your account. You can go to the top right and click edit, then fill it in. If you don't hear back from people you comment to, that's why. When we hit reply, it says " no reply blogger". Just thought you were wondering why you don't hear back from different bloggers. Have a beautiful day in your lovely town ; ) hope you get to stitch.
DeleteHi Carla, Thank you for your helpful notes. I have been trying to learn how to blog, etc. I promise I will try to be better in future. Very best wishes, Philippa xx
DeleteWow Phillippa!! That´s a very lovely place!!! Where is it?
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Juliana
Hi Juliana, The canal and river are at Bradford-on-Avon in Wiltshire, England. We are at the southern end of the Cotswolds which is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with rolling hills, flowing rivers and Bath stone buildings often built in Georgian times. There are also lots of thatched cottages and pretty villages. Often parts of the countryside or villages are used in film shoots. I can't say that I am lucky enough to live in an old house but I do appreciate the countryside at least. Best wishes Philippa x
DeleteHi Philippa. Thanks for your recent comment. I in no way meant for you to feel like you aren't a good blogger. I just didn't want you to miss out on anything if you leave comments on giveaways etc. have a great week. Hope you have some stitching time : )
ReplyDeleteIt's ok Carla I honestly didn't think you were having a go but only that you were being helpful to a newby like me. I'm back at work today and all I keep thinking about is how much better it would be if I were at home and stitching. I know I should be grateful I have a job but just sometimes........ Philippa xx
DeleteHello Philippa - we were in your part of the world a couple of years ago and had a very nice time too~! There is something about water...
ReplyDeleteTake care
Best wishes
Jenny
Hi Jenny, apologies for the delay in replying. No excuse, just didn't get around to it. So very sorry.
DeleteI'm still working hard to finish the last little bit of the advent calendar I was commissioned to make. Hopefully this evening will see the last stitches go in. I'll try to pop a photo of it here but the Best Beloved sorted out a new laptop for me to replace the other computer and I still have to work out what lead goes in which hole.
Very best wishes, Philippa x
Hi Philippa . How are things with you? Thanks for commenting today
ReplyDeleteHi Carla, All is well here - well that's not quite true. I'm at work but it's very quiet today and I keep thinking of all the wonderful things I could be doing at home. Still only one more day and then I'm off for 11 days so plenty of time then to make a few things! Plus one of our dogs (Phoebe the yellow labrador) cut her leg nastily last weekend and that resulted in an emergency operation. Unfortunately she cut one or two tendons so now has her leg all wrapped up in a temporary cast so that hopefully they will heal. Having said that she is getting quite fast at hopping on three legs. It can cause a problem when she forgets and tries to look around a corner...because then she falls over! This is the third time she has done this. I just hope for her sake it is the last.
DeleteAs I have said to Jenny at The Custards above, I have to learn about my new laptop so that I can download a few photos and do some new postings but all my time in the evenings has been taken up with an advent calendar commission. I will try and do a new post in the next day or so. Very best wishes, Philippa xx
